Simple but powerful, our new Index to Index Application will preserve your old tattered Index Books from being tortured any further. This application is web based, providing electronic access to the aging historical deed indices and deed books in your record room. This program can be used solely in a Clerk’s office or can be acessed remotely from any internet browser. Once digitally imaged, both the deed indices and deed books can be searched using a hierarchical “link view” mechanism. Index books can be accessed by year, grantor or grantee and then by alphabetic order. Once the desired deed book and page is identified in the index, the user can enter the deed book and page number into the interface and be instantly linked to the associated image. By using this system, the need for manually searching indices and deed books can be eliminated. In addition, the images of the indices produced by this process can be used for security back-up and converted to microfilm for storage at the State Archives, insuring the security of these valuable records in the event of a disaster.
